The Mirror Lake recreation area will be open for use for the 2023 season, but residents and guests may be subject to special circumstance COVID-19 rules in addition to the regular lake rules to help keep everyone safe.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and respect.
We may be registering all lake visitors on a daily basis this season. If required to do so, all members must check in with the lifeguard upon arrival each day. You will be asked to provide your name, address, email and/or phone number, and how many members and guests are in your group. Following check-in you will receive a flag. Please place the flag in the sand by the area you are occupying.
For the protection of our lifeguard staff, the lifeguards will no longer be handling the trash. Trash cans and recycling bins were removed from the area. Members are asked to take their trash and recycling with them when they leave.
There will no longer be a bucket of community sand toys. Members are asked to bring their own toys, and to limit the sharing of these toys with others.
In the spirit of social distancing and to ensure all members have access to a safe and properly distanced spot at the lake, members should please be conscious of their number of guests while utilizing the lake and other common properties so as not to crowd the space.
A port-o-potty is provided as a convenience to members and their guests. Paper towels and cleaning spray can be used to wipe down any surfaces. The use of hand sanitizer is also encouraged.
Any items left at the lake will be held for 24 hours, and then discarded. Please be sure to bring all of your items home with you at the end of your visit.
Pine Grove’s Mirror Lake Rules
Association of Property Owners at Pine Grove Lakes (or PGLA)
Lifeguards are provided for the safety of PGLA members and their guests; however, swimming is at your own risk and has inherent dangers associated with it. It is incumbent upon the members and their guests to recognize these risks and use good judgment and common sense when utilizing any of the association’s common properties and facilities.
Even though the lifeguard is on duty, it is incumbent upon parents and/or guardians to supervise the activities of their children and guests, at all times, in and out of the water.
The lifeguard has the authority to restrict the lake privileges of anyone who is repeatedly acting in an unsafe manner or is in violation of the lake rules.
Swimming
1. The lake will open for swimming on the day school ends and will close Labor Day. Swimming or wading when the lifeguard is not present is prohibited.
2. Swimming is only allowed in the roped areas that are supervised by the lifeguards. Swimming beyond the ropes, off of watercraft, or in any other part of Mirror Lake is prohibited.
3. The roped off “waffle” area is for the use of small children and non-swimmers. There is NO diving from the waffle or swimming/wading behind the waffle.
4. The center area is roped off for children eight and over. This area may be used for water sports and games. At lifeguard’s discretion, younger children can play in the center area.
5. Any child entering 3rd grade or higher must successfully complete a lifeguard-supervised swim test in order to be permitted to swim to the dock without being accompanied by an adult (at lifeguard discretion).
6. Diving is permitted from the dock. Horseplay, flips, or other gymnastics are prohibited.
7. Jumping from the dock onto watercraft, floats, or tubes is prohibited.
8. Persons unable to swim are forbidden to use flotation devices which carry them into water over their heads.
9. PGLA resident children 14 years or younger or those who are entering eighth grade or less will not be allowed on the beach or in the water unless accompanied by a parent or guardian 16 years or older. A PGLA adult member must accompany all guests, including guest children.
Boats and Watercraft
1. Boats and other watercraft are allowed only outside the roped-off areas.
2. Children using boats or paddle boards must wear Coast Guard approved life jackets or PFDs and may not get off the watercraft to swim in the lake outside the ropes.
3. Boats and other watercraft cannot be stored or left on association property.
4. Gas powered motorboats are not permitted in the lake.
Tags and Guests
1. All members must carry their current year’s PGLA member tag and display the tag upon request. To avoid any inconvenience, PGLA members should carry their tags at all times.
2. Members who are not current with their dues may not have common property privileges and may not be the guest of or use the tags of another PGLA member.
3. Guests must be accompanied by an adult PGLA member at all times when using the association’s common property.
Other
1. The lifeguard has the authority to evaluate potentially dangerous objects and prohibit their use.
2. Use of the association’s beach equipment or boat is not permitted by anyone other than a lifeguard.
3. Dogs are not permitted on the beach, grass, or in the water of Mirror Lake.
